Are you a business analyst or technical service professional involved in helping your clients design and implement effective business solutions? If so, you are playing a key role in bridging the gap between the Business and IT. This requires you to bring your best game to the table, including:
  • Knowledge of your client's business and business systems
  • Your unique personal value proposition
  • Critical thinking, analytical skills, methods, tools and techniques to create or redesign business systems
  • Your ability to build trust, enroll and engage effectively with others
  • You may be in a situation where your previous experience hasn’t provided you with all the skills you might need to ensure your effectiveness as a business anlayst. Business Dimensions' training modules, learning events and support mechanisms are designed to address 4 key competency areas and provide you the right type of support needed to accelerate your success.

    Training Design for Your Organization
Training is most effective when it is applied almost immediately to real situations. Our training can be designed or customized to leverage a performance improvement initiative, become part of your attraction and retention strategy, or your new employee on boarding process. Our training services and course content have been developed in a modular format intended to function as smaller learning events that can be applied immediately, or combined to target a specific performance target.

    Training Levels
In order to facilitate this approach, our learning events have been structured into three levels to support competency development for the beginner to the most experienced.

    Foundations (Level One)
The Foundations level modules lay the building blocks for new business analysts and those wanting a greater appreciation for what is required in business analysis and performance improvement initiatives. The Foundations level of all modules and learning events has been designed to introduce the participant to systems thinking, various business frameworks and methodologies. The participant completing foundation level portion of the modules below can expect to:

  • Integrate into any performance improvement project or team
  • Have a working understanding of the business analyst role and responsibilities
  • Work with more experienced analysts to gather and document high level and detailed requirements
  • Understand and use the techniques and tools in the business analysis toolkit
  • Work closely with business users
  • Automate processes or assess and manage change requests to existing systems
  • Apply systems thinking to reduce rework and gather information more completely the ‘first time’
  • Develop a common language to translate requirements effectively to the solution development team
  • Manage user expectations effectively

  • Developing Competency (Level Two)
The Developing Competency level modules support the intermediate level business analyst with 2 to 5 years of experience as a business analyst. The intermediate analyst is typically involved in software development or purchasing software for a particular functional area. These modules help the analyst build proficiency in ‘how to’ successfully translate business needs to system requirements.

The participant completing the Developing Competency level learning modules can expect to:
  • Effectively translate business needs to system requirements
  • Select and apply appropriate business system modeling techniques for performance analysis
  • Increase completeness of requirement definition by using whole system, end to end thinking
  • Redesign business processes and workflow successfully
  • Conduct software selection
  • Support the performance improvement initiative from business need through testing and implementation
  • Effectively interact with stakeholders to identify improvements, gain support and commitment.
  • Demonstrating Leadership (Level Three)
This leadership level learning is targeted at the senior business analyst who has more than 5 years of experience as a business analyst. The senior analyst brings their good understanding of the business issues, complexity of business systems and their highly developed analytical skills together to affect change.

Very much a proactive role in their organizations, the participants completing the leadership level modules can expect to:
  • Lead change
  • Manage stakeholder expectations at all levels
  • Bring new ideas to the organization
  • Manage analysis for complex and highly integrated business systems
  • Support performance improvements that result in business improvements, not just process improvements
  • Apply practical communication techniques and leadership skills to create results
  • Training has its place; however training alone will not address all the aspects of good business analysis service delivery. Business Dimensions is your trusted partner in helping you and your people deliver business analysis services successfully through our business analyst development support services, business analysis optimization services and through coaching and mentoring partnerships with your senior or first line supervisors, lead business analysts or key specialists.
